Does anyone have any advice on re-pointing brick joints? I am debating between grinding them out and piping in mortar with a mortar bag. We've had a bad winter with freeze and thaw causing some of the shifting of the brick work.

I cast an oven in situ with refractory Cement some years ago.
recently I built a Pompey oven using housebrick and now I want to build the 3rd way.
I want to build forms which can be used more than once, to cast a few ovens. Like the precast ovens sold around the world.
How are the oven components poured? Is the oven cast in one then cut into the seperate components or are the components cast seperatly. If I were to use refractory Cement what type is best. when set does the material need to be…

I was trying to find photos of manufacture process on the web but to no avail. Thanks Retro-Fitting Thermo couplestag:mywoodoven.ning.com,2009-04-01:2853862:Topic:14812009-04-01T11:04:06.000ZFrankie Ghttp://mywoodoven.ning.com/profile/frankieg
Has anyone got any advice about retro fitting thermocouples after an oven has been built? We were going to go with just a laser thermometer for hearth reading but have now decided that we want to know the core temperature at three different depths.
We have an A/S style oven. Presumably we can drill from the bottom of the hearth base to the depths that are required.
Cheers
Do you use small fires or large ones? What type of wood? How do you get your fire burning? Where in the oven should a fire be started? What tools do you use? Where can I get tools? These are some of the questions I know I had after my oven was built.
